Police Urge Resident Awareness After Series of Robberies Near B&A Trail

Two men were robbed, separately, early Sunday morning while walking near the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail.

Police are reminding residents to stay alert after two reported armed robberies occurred within minutes of each other early Sunday morning near the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail.

According to a police press release, officers responded to the area of Aquahart Road and Greenway at about 12:20 a.m. Sunday for a reported armed robbery.

Officers spoke with a 27-year-old man who said he was robbed as he walked along a parking lot in the area. While speaking with the man, a 19-year-old man approached officers and said a man tried to rob him along the B&A Trail near Harundale Plaza. Police learned that the second victim was robbed shortly after the first victim.

In both incidents, the man told the victims he had a weapon and threatened to shoot them if they didn't give him their belongings. The suspect took the first victim's wallet but was unable to take anything from the second victim. The man then ran south on the B&A Trail.

Officers, a K-9 unit and an aviation unit searched the area but were unable to find the man.

Police would like to remind residents of the following safety tips:

  • Don’t walk the trail alone, especially after dark
  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Walk with a purpose (with confidence)
  • Always carry a cell phone
  • Report suspicious activity/people
