Police Warn Harbor Valley Residents About Series of Attempted Shed Burglaries

Officers alerted residents of the Brooklyn Park neighborhood about a series of shed and car break-ins that took place Monday and Tuesday.

Anne Arundel County Police issued an alert late Tuesday night informing residents of the Harbor Valley community about a series of car and shed break-ins and attempted break-ins earlier in the week.

Lt. Michael Wisniewski with the Northern District sent an alert out through Nixle, a service that sends text and e-mail updates to mobile phones.

"Greetings community members, I wanted to reach out to you as community leaders, and make you aware of a series of events, that have unfolded over the past several days in the Harbor Valley community," Wisniewski said in the alert.

According to the release, officers responded to Cliff Side Court in Brooklyn Park at about 2 p.m. Monday for a reported trespassing. Upon investigation police were told that three young white men, who looked to be between the ages of 15 and 20, were seen lurking aroud several homes. Two of the homes had screens cut out of windows, several sheds had been broken into and several vehicles had missing items.

Then on Tuesday, officers responded to Dockside Court around 3 p.m. for a possible shed burglary. Witnesses told police that two young white men, who, again, looked to be between the ages of 15 and 20, were seen running from the shed. Police searched the area and found three other attempted shed burglaries in the area.

"Our efforts need to be supplemented by community support with open lines of communication, therefore, I am asking for your help in sharing this information with the community," Wisniewski said.
