Glen Burnie Patch: How did you decide to go into education?
Edwards: It's kind of like fate. My mother and my aunts, they were all teachers. And I shared with my students that back in 1980, I was always told I had to go to college. So I was like, "OK, I'll go to college." Then I got there and I was told, "You have to choose a major." So I just kind of looked in the book and chose industrial arts—I didn't really know what that was. And I ended up being a teacher. That's why I say it was kind of like fate. That's what I'm doing with my students now, is careers. And trying to help them know that there's all kinds of things to choose from.

Glen Burnie Patch: How did you decide to teach at the middle school level?
Edwards: I kind of started out in middle school. And I just enjoy this age group. I never had the desire to do elementary or high school. I just enjoy working with the middle school group. I've never done anything else and never had the desire to do any other grade level.
