UPDATED: Woman Stabbed in Glen Burnie

A woman believed to be in her early 20s was transported to BWMC in serious and life-threatening condition where she was stabilized and transferred to Shock Trauma for surgery.

A woman who was stabbed Sunday night in Glen Burnie was transported to the hospital in serious and life-threatening condition where she was stabilized and transferred to Shock Trauma for surgery, police and fire officials said.

According to police, preliminary investigation leads officers to believe the incident is not a random act of violence.

According to Anne Arundel County Fire spokesman Lt. Clifford Kooser, fire and EMS officials received a call at about 8:34 p.m. Sunday requesting medical assistance in the 400 block of Pamela Road. Police also were dispatched to the scene, said Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.

Once on the scene, police found a woman who is believed to be in her early 20s, on the ground in front of an apartment building bleeding from an "upper extremity" and suffering from apparent lacerations, police said.

Medics transported the woman to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center where the victim was in serious and life-threatening condition as of 9 p.m., Kooser said. She was stabilized and transferred to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for surgery, Mulcahy said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
