Ellicott City Flood: Rescue Crews Searching Buildings, Two Dead

Cleanup Monday from a fatal flood in Ellicott City will included rescuers and local authorities going through downtown buildings, as crews work to clear streets and sidewalks that saw dramatic water rescues Saturday night. Two people died in the flood waters.

On the shores of the Patapsco River, trucks will be pulling 20 vehicles from the water after towing away more than 180 vehicles across the downtown district Sunday.>>> Read more.

Floating vehicles, a dramatic rescue and swallowed-up sidewalks were broadcast on social media Saturday in Ellicott City, where more than 6 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours.

"It looks like a movie disaster scene," Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford said. The lieutenant governor, who lives in Columbia, toured the area with other government officials as Howard County declared a state of emergency before midnight. >>> Read more.
