Three-Alarm Fire, an Arrest and a Counter-Protest

We look back at some of the stories from the week of April11 to April 17.

Friday was a busy day beginning with a reported arrest and ending with a three-alarm fire.

, 22, was arrested Tuesday in Silver Spring in connection with a in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall, according to police, who say the incident was drug related. Gayle, who according to court documents is listed as a Lanham resident, was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, illegal possession of a handgun, use of a gun in the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment.

At about 11 a.m on Friday., Anne Arundel County Fire officials received multiple calls about a . The fire escalated to three alarms and took 72 firefighters a little more than two hours to get under control. All 12 units in the building suffered fire, smoke or water damage.
