Three Men Arrested on Handgun Charge During Traffic Stop in Brooklyn Park

The arrest took place in Brooklyn Park, near Ritchie Highway North and Church Street.

Police arrested three men Thursday on charges of transporting a handgun in a vehicle after pulling them over for a routine traffic violation in Brooklyn Park.

According to an Anne Arundel County Police press release, officers pulled over an older model Chevy Malibu with three passengers because of an issue with the car's registration near Ritchie Highway North and Church Street in Brooklyn Park.

During the traffic stop, a procedural warrant check showed that one of the passengers had an outstanding warrant. Police said they also smelled a faint odor of marijuana from inside the car, according to a press release.

Police searched the car and found a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia and a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, according to the release.

All three passengers in the car were arrested.

Eduard Baxter, 24, and Kenneth Davis, 20, both of Severn, were charged with transporting a handgun in a vehicle. Akeem Belvin of Brooklyn Park, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
