UPDATED: Tow Truck Driver's Name Released in Hit-and-Run Accident
James Schreiber Jr., 38, of Pasadena was assisting another driver on Route 100 when he was struck by a driver who left the scene, police and fire officials said.

A tow truck driver is dead after being struck Wednesday morning by a vehicle while assisting another driver on the shoulder of Route 100, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Steve Thompson.
Anne Arundel County Police have identified the driver as James Schreiber Jr., 38, of Pasadena, a driver for Baltimore-based Ted's Towing Serivce.

Officers closed Route 100 eastbound at about 8:25 a.m., diverting traffic from Route 97. They reopened the highway at about 11:20 a.m., keeping the right lane closed.

Police officers responded to Route 100 eastbound just before the Oakwood Road exit at 8:04 a.m. for a reported serious crash, according to police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.
Once on the scene, officers found a man lying on the right shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel, Mulcahy said.
According to preliminary witness information, the tow truck driver pulled over to assist a sewage truck that was disabled on the right shoulder.
The tow truck driver was standing outside the truck and preparing to tow the sewage truck when he was hit by what has been described as an older model, red Nissan Pathfinder, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) with silver trim. Witnesses said the SUV initially stopped at the scene, but then continued traveling east on Route 100, Mulcahy said.
The operator of the sewage truck was on the scene but not injured in the incident, Mulcahy said.
Police said they believe driver of the Nissan is a man in his early to mid-30s with a thin build and crew cut or short brown hair, based on witness accounts. Police said the SUV sustained substantial damage to the front fender and headlight assembly on the passenger side. Additionally, the SUV is missing a traffic signal, mirror and hubcap on the passenger side.
