Video Earns Marley Elementary $1,000 Prize
A music video featuring Marley Elementary Students earned the school some money.
Marley Elementary School is $1,000 richer thanks to Baltimore Gas & Electric, the students and the initiative of a teacher at the Glen Burnie school.
MES earned a bronze award as part of a BGE video contest, which encouraged schools from across central Maryland to submit their versions of the BGE "Wires Down" commercial. The MES video featured eight students with red-painted hands showing a "red alert" to avoid downed wires.
"This project was a lot of fun and a tremendous educational experience for our students because it gives them real-word applications to the science we teach in our school every day," MES Principal Nina Lattimore said.
The school credited fifth-grade teacher Ryan Peters with leading the effort on the video, and the $1,000 he helped them earn will go toward technology for the school.
