Woman Gets Life In Prison For 2018 Murder Of Tiffany Jones

BALTIMORE, MD — A woman was sentenced to life in prison Friday for her role in the 2018 kidnapping, burning, and fatal stabbing of Tiffany Jones, according to a CBS Baltimore report.

Bobie Barncord, 33, was convicted in April of first-degree murder, conspiracy to kidnap, and arson in connection with Jones' death. Authorities said Barncord participated in Jones' murder because she believed Jones stole her cell phone.

Barncord's co-defendant, Willard Turner, was convicted of killing Jones in February 2020. Authorities said he is currently serving a prison sentence of life plus 80 years.

According to authorities, Jones was kidnapped at knifepoint by Turner in August 2018. Officers later learned the car used to take Jones was driven by Barncord and owned by her father.

The following day, firefighters responding to a rowhome fire at 7th Street and Baltic Avenue in Brooklyn found Jones' body inside the house, WBAL reported. According to authorities, she was naked and bound when firefighters discovered her.

Police later found Jones' shoes in the backseat of the car used to take her, authorities said. Police also found Barncord's DNA on a large knife discovered inside the vehicle, according to the release.

When police interviewed her, Barncord admitted to participating in Jones' kidnapping. She also admitted to pouring lighter fluid on Jones but wouldn't say who lit Jones on fire, according to the release.

When asked why she kidnapped Jones, Barncord told authorities it was because she believed Jones stole her cell phone.
