Prince George's County Couples Take Advantage of Auspicious Date
More than two dozen couples wed on 12-12-12 in hopes of cashing in on the luck the once-in-a-lifetime date may have.

Maybe they believed that Dec. 12, 2012 was a lucky day or maybe they just wanted an easy date to remember as their anniversary, but 29 couples were married Wednesday in Prince George's County Circuit Court, according to a court clerk.
The date 12-12-12 was big for weddings around the world as the triple date won't appear again for almost another century—until Jan. 1, 2101, according to CNN.
More than 7,500 couples were set to get married in U.S., according to The Huffington Post, and thousands more across the world wed and used social media to share their photos (hashtag:#121212) Wednesday.

Then there are those that were just lucky enough to be born on that date. A call to Prince George's Hospital Center asking about the number of births Wednesday was not returned in time for this post.
Another big day for weddings this year may be Dec. 21, 2012—otherwise known as the Apocalypse. In Maryland, another big day will be Jan. 1, 2013 as same-sex couples may get married in the state starting at 12:01 a.m. Same-sex couples can get their marriage licenses in the county starting on Dec. 18 in preparation for the big day.
