Lt. Gov. Brown and Fiancee Bailey-Walker Stop Off in Greenbelt

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown told Greenbelt Patch that he couldn't believe his luck when he discovered Karmen Bailey-Walker was single.

Patch was trying to talk to Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown about serious business at Justin Ross' fundraiser in Greenbelt Thursday, when Brown abruptly stopped the conversation to grin from ear to ear and ask — Have you met my fiancee?

As he drew her forward, the grin was immediately shot back by a petite, doe-eyed woman with a pink sweater and pearl necklace, reminsicent of Jackie O.

It turns out the woman in pink, Karmen Bailey-Walker, is not only eye-catching but is also accomplished, as the director of government affairs for Comcast.

The plusses pile up high enough that Brown was certain she couldn't be single, until the day he was having lunch with a friend who brought up Bailey-Walker.

Brown said he told the friend that she must be dating someone, but his friend assured him she was not. Brown was incredulous.

Two weeks later he ran into her and wasted no time asking Bailey-Walker out.

They became officially engaged this May, Walker-Bailey said, and Brown added that they had dated for a couple of years.

Brown and Bailey-Walker were a bit hush-hush about the proposal. They did, however, provide a little glimpse into the day, saying they wanted to include their kids in on the proposal, and that it was a surprise of sorts.

They're still looking for a venue for the wedding and they plan to say - I do - sometime next summer around May or June, Brown said.
