'Purple Light Nights' Event to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence

The Prince George's County Sheriff's office will hold a lighting ceremony Oct. 9 to support victims of domestic abuse.

On Thursday, Oct. 9, Prince George’s County residents are invited to participate in the lighting ceremony of “Purple Light Nights,” a campaign to raise awareness of Domestic Violence within the community.

Attendees of the lighting ceremony will be able to pick up a purple porch light to display at their own homes to show support for victims of domestic violence, according to a press release from the Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff.

Sheriff Melvin C. High and other members of his team are hosting this event, and will join residents to stand up solidarity against domestic violence.

Thursday’s ceremony will take place at the County Administration Building located at 14741 Governor Oden Bowie Drive in Upper Marlboro.
