Retired Firefighter To Set Sail On Cruise With $50K Lotto Win

A retired firefighter living in Harford County recently won $50K playing the lottery. He plans to use the winnings to take a cruise.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A retired firefighter from Harford County won the lottery twice in six months and hopes to win an even bigger prize soon.

In January, the retired firefighter won $5,000 and in July, he landed a $50,000 prize, both times on Fast Play games, lottery officials said.

“The next one’s going to be a million,” he said last week when he claimed his $50,000 prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The retired firefighter lives in the Bel Air area and shared that he and his wife likely will go on a cruise to celebrate.

For his big win, the player bought a $10 Fast Play Lucky Numbers ticket on July 11 out of the same machine where he bought a $5,000 winner on New Years Day of this year. The machine is the one in the Royal Farms store at 1526 Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill. The Lucky Numbers game is a progressive jackpot ticket and $50,000 is the game’s second-tier prize. As of July 15, the progressive jackpot was at nearly $109,000.
