UPDATE: Havre de Grace Man Dies After Crash
Shawn Marcel Christy, 28, died following an accident on U.S. Route 40 Sunday.
(UPDATE: 9:52 a.m. Monday)—A Sunday evening accident on U.S. Route 40 claimed the life of a Havre de Grace man, police said.
Longtime Havre de Grace resident Shawn Marcel Christy, 28, was killed in the crash and his son was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Baltimore where the boy remained in stable condition Sunday night, according to Maryland State Police with the Bel Air Barrack.
Around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Christy, of the 700 block of Otsego Street, was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer eastbound on U.S. Route 40, according to a release from state police.

In the area of Robin Hood Road, Christy lost control of the Explorer, crossed the median on U.S. Route 40 and hit a westbound 2004 Ford Expedition, according to the release.
After initial impact the Explorer rolled over and Christy was thrown from the vehicle, state police say.

Christy was taken to where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Christy's son, 5-year-old Shawn Marcel Christy Jr., was a passenger in the Explorer at the time of the crash, according to police. The younger Christy, who was "properly secured by a safety seat" at the time of the crash, was taken to Johns Hopkins for treatment, the release states.
Margaret Hockenberry, 54, of the 500 block of Congress Avenue, was driving the Ford Expedition at the time of the crash. Hockenberry and her two passengers, 57-year-old Scott Stantford Hockenberry III and 14-year-old Rhys Nolan Hockenberry, all of the same address, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the release.
Scott Hockenberry was taken to Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins for treatment while Rhys Hockenberry was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.
U.S. Route 40 remained closed to traffic for several hours while police investigated the crash. It had reopened to traffic by 8 p.m. Sunday.
The accident remains under investigation by state police.
