City Keeps New Hospital Project Moving Forward

The Havre de Grace planning commission recommended Monday that the city approve the concept plan for a new Upper Chesapeake hospital development near the Interstate 95 interchange.

The rendering came down at the commission's Monday night meeting, moving the enormous project forward toward approval.

By ordinance, the Havre de Grace planning commission is empowered to review and make recommendations on the concept plan within a 30-day period. That window begins at the point in which the planning department receives the plan.

Accoding to Explore Harford, planning commission chairman Curtis Coon—who confirmed the commission's recommendation in a comment on Patch—was the only commission member to vote against the plan, calling it "incomplete."

The Explore Harford report indicated Upper Chesapeake's plan did not include some of the elements required by the city. But hospital contractors and representatives argued that those elements have not been included in their own planning, the article stated.

A more detailed plan, in the form of a site plan, is set to be revealed in about a month.
