Ducks Unlimited Plans Fundraiser With New HdG Location For 2022
Since the Bayou Restaurant closed, a well-known Havre de Grace fundraiser is changing locations.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A fundraiser for Ducks Unlimited will be held April 16 at the Havre de Grace Community Center in mid-March.
Lou and Terry Ward, who owned the Bayou Restaurant, used to host the event each year, according to organizers.
Since the couple retired and closed the business, the fundraiser was moved to the community center on Lagaret Lane.

It will benefit Ducks Unlimited, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation of wetlands and waterfowl.
Canned beer and boxed wine will be available at the event, according to Merrill and Darlene Dougherty, who appeared Wednesday before the Harford County Liquor Control Board to ask for approval to sell alcohol at the fundraiser.
They said they would have one control point with two people checking identification and offering wristbands at the door for those who are 21 years old and up. Two bartenders will be handling the alcohol, including one who has been certified in alcohol service.
Doors open at 5 p.m., alcohol service will start at 6 p.m., and the event runs until 10:30 p.m., according to the Doughertys.
The bull roast and auction will include raffles and games as well as food and drinks. Food includes mac and cheese, brisket, baked beans, oysters, pulled pork, other dishes and desserts. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included, according to the R. Madison Mitchell DU Annual Bull Roast and Auction event page.
"It's a great event," newly inducted Harford County Liquor Control Board member Wayne Goddard said at Wednesday's board meeting in Bel Air.
