Families Flee Homes With High Carbon Monoxide Levels

Two homes in five days reported high levels of carbon monoxide caused by faulty furnaces, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Emergency responders have been called to two homes in the past five days where there were high levels of carbon monoxide caused by faulty furnaces, authorities report.

Both homes had working carbon monoxide detectors, which alerted residents to the high levels, officials noted.

According to the fire company, the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include a headache, fatigue, tightness in chest, nausea and dizziness. Anyone who experiences these symptoms need to open windows and doors immediately, turn off fuel-burning appliances, leave the building and seek medical attention.
