Fire Caused $70K In Damage In Aberdeen: Officials

A house fire drew the Susquehanna Hose Company outside Havre de Grace Thursday afternoon, officials said.

ABERDEEN, MD — Improperly discarded smoking materials sparked a house fire in Aberdeen Thursday afternoon, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

A passerby saw the fire, which started on a mulch bed outside a duplex on Liberty Street at 12:22 p.m., investigators said.

Firefighters from Havre de Grace were called to help in Aberdeen, where crews found fire from a one-story duplex, the Susquehanna Hose Company reported after 12:45 p.m.

It took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, the fire marshal said.

There was $60,000 of damage inside and $10,000 in structural damage, according to authorities.

Engines 512, 513 and 514 of the Susquehanna Hose Company responded, officials said, while Quint and Tower 5 remained attended for any other incidents.
