Greenway Farms Burglary Prompts Request From Havre de Grace Police

A neighborhood in Havre de Grace was the scene of a K-9 search this week after a burglary, police said.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A burglary in Havre de Grace on Monday prompted authorities to close a street and order a K-9 search of a neighborhood, which resulted in the collection of evidence; however, police said the burglar ran away.

Now, investigators are asking residents in Greenway Farms to check any surveillance cameras they may have for suspicious activity as well.

Police said they were called to a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Sachem Street between noon and 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 18.

Immediately, officials said they closed Sachem Street to be sure the burglar could not leave.

However, police said they found the vehicle of the suspect, who had gotten away on foot.

A Havre de Grace Police K-9 handler started tracking the suspect, which led authorities out of the neighborhood; the K-9 search for the suspect was negative.

"Evidence was recovered and is being further investigated," the Havre de Grace Police Department said in a statement.

Investigators are asking Greenway Farms residents to check their home surveillance cameras for any unusual activity between noon and 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18. If they spot anything, police ask people to call the Havre de Grace Police Department Investigation Division at 410-939-2121.
