Harford County Police Awarded $40,350 Federal Grant

The money will go toward new equipment.

Harford County has been awarded more than $40,000 in federal grant money earmarked for violent crime reduction and other public safety activities.

The grant is part of $6.3 million the U.S. Department of Justice issued to the state and individual counties and cities in Maryland.

Harford County's share—$40,350—will be used to buy tactical helmets and protective masks for members of the Correctional Response Team. In addition, it will purchase tactical raid carriers for law enforcement officers' ballistic vests, according to a statement from Maryland Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin.
