Hatem Bridge Concrete Repair Scheduled to Begin in Nov.

MTA reports the work will result in additional noise and truck traffic in the affected areas.

Foundation repair work on the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge will take place overnight beginning Nov. 2, the  Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) reports.

The scheduled work includes concrete pouring as part of a preservation project to repair underwater foundation damage.

The $48 million project was deemed necessary to secure the structural integrity of the bridge's piers, MTA reports. Work is slated for completion by fall 2014.

MTA reports the work will result in additional noise and truck traffic in the affected areas. The truck route includes I-95 to MD 222 (Perryville Road), to U.S. 40, to Coudon Boulevard, to MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), to Roundhouse Drive.
