HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Ice Festival is this weekend, and the weather is ideal for the wintertime event, with temperatures below freezing.

On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, people can find costumed characters, ice sculptures and free s'mores downtown. The festival takes place along Saint John, Franklin and North Washington streets and Pennington and Congress avenues.

ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS

Live ice carving at Rochambeau Plaza will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Free s'mores will be offered while supplies last on Pennington Avenue at Washington Street.

A chili cookoff will be from 4–7 p.m. Saturday. It costs $10 to participate, and souvenir mini chili crockpots will be given away while supplies last. The winner of the chili cookoff will be announced at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the State Theater at 325 Saint John St.

The Ice Parade for children is at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Elsa & Aurura will lead the parade from Rochambeau Plaza to the State Theater. One girl and one boy will be crowned the 2022 Ice Princess and Ice Prince. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the booth at 203 North Washington St. Kids 13 and under are encouraged to dress up as their favorite fairy-tale princess or prince for the event.

A free screening of "Happy Feet" the movie will be shown at the State Theater at 325 St. John St. at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

At the ice graffiti wall on Franklin Street, people can carve their names into the ice.

Cornhole with ice will be on Franklin Street.

MacGregor's is hosting a hot toddy garden and storytime for kids on Pennington Avenue.
