HdG Oktoberfest 2021 Moves To New Location

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Oktoberfest is set for Saturday overlooking the Susquehanna River from a new location, at Concord Point Park.

The Oktoberfest tent will be set up for the affair, which will go on even if it rains.

German food, a beer garden with German beer and wine, vendors, food trucks, dancers, music and a children's zone with moon bounce are part of the festivities.

In recent years, the festival was held at Hutchins Park. However, a judge in Harford County Circuit Court ordered the event no longer be held there, after residents in the area filed suit over the city's use of the park for gatherings that blocked access to their driveways and were excessively loud.

As a result, the event was moved to the Concord Point Park area. City officials said the fencing will allow Concord Point Lighthouse and the Keeper's House to remain open during the festivities.

Oktoberfest will be from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Concord Point Park, 700 Concord St, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Admission is free.

The original Oktoberfest, a celebration of German heritage, culture and beer, is typically held over more than two weeks, ending the first Sunday in October in Munich. Because of uncertainty related to the coronavirus, Munich canceled its 2021 Oktoberfest, which it bills as the world's largest folk festival, slated for Sept. 18 to Oct. 3.
