HdG Vehicle Fire Ruled Accidental; Caused By Engine Malfunction

On Nov. 13, a fire caused $9,000 in damage to a Havre de Grace car. The state fire marshal ruled its cause as accidental on Thursday.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — An accidental engine malfunction caused a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse to catch fire in Havre de Grace on Saturday, Nov. 13, the state fire marshal has determined.

On Thursday, fire Marshal Brian S. Geraci ruled the fire accidental, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The car's owner discovered the blaze before 6 p.m. Saturday. Nine firefighters responded to the 100 block of Ohio Street and were able to bring the fire under control in three minutes, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said.

The fire, which caused the car to sustain $9,000 in damage, was traced to the engine compartment after it was extinguished, officials said.
