DARLINGTON, MD — The Hosanna School Museum is celebrating Juneteenth with a concert and festival at its campus on Castleton Road.

Juneteenth is a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates history, culture and achievement of African-Americans.

Sponsored in part by the Harford County Public Library, Harford County Government and Visit Harford, the Upper Bay Juneteenth Festival is slated for Saturday, June 18.

The event in Harford County is billed as the longest running Juneteenth celebration in the Lower Susquehanna and Upper Chesapeake Bay regions, organizers at the Hosanna School Museum say.

While the Hosanna School Museum functions as a schoolhouse museum, it operated as a church and community meeting place in the 19th century and was used as a schoolhouse until 1946.
