are investigating a suspicious man who allegedly wanted to purchase 100 cases of chewing gum from a downtown business recently. Police spokesman said the owners of reported a suspicious man with a French accent visited the store on Aug. 2 looking to make a large purchase of gum. The transaction never happened. The following morning, the store owners reported receiving several overnight phone calls from an unrecognized number. Upon calling that number, the store owners said the man on the other end of the line had a similar accent to the suspicious individual that visited the store.
