Retiree Wins $5K In Unlock The Cash Lotto Promotion

A Joppatowne retiree recently won $5K playing the Unlock the Cash Second Chance Promotion live game.

JOPPATOWNE, MD — A Joppatowne woman who participated in the second of three Unlock the Cash Second Chance Promotion live games held recently ended up nabbing $5,000.

In the Unlock the Cash Live Game, there are six safes with cash amounts and/or scratch-off prizes locked away inside. The winners were guaranteed to win between $5,000 and $25,000, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Sallie Drake of Joppatowne and another woman took turns selecting safe combinations and inputting the numbers on each safe until they each opened two of the safes. Inside each safe was a sealed envelope with cash amounts ranging from $2,500 to $15,000. After they picked their first envelopes, they were directed to open them at the same time to reveal their prizes. Drake won $2,500 plus $300 worth of Break The Bank scratch-offs.

They each selected another code and opened their second safe. Maryland Lottery host Mike Powell instructed the two winners to wait for the count of three to open their envelopes and find out how much more they each won. Drake received another $2,500 for a total of $5,000, plus the scratch-offs.

She has retired from Johns Hopkins and said she plans to use her prize to pay it forward to others.
