SHCO Honors Volunteers at Banquet

The Susquehanna Hose Company held its annual banquet Saturday at Level Fire Hall to recognize members and supporters.

How do you encapsulate more than 12,000 training hours and more than 600 calls for service in a calendar year?

Quite simply: you can't.

But Saturday, the held its awards banquet for 2011, looking back on the year that was for 's five-house volunteer fire department.

Ron Cardwell, Captain at , was named Susquehanna Hose Company Firefighter of the Year and Sam Cubberly, Safety Officer at , was named The Record Firefighter of the Year.

Elaine Burchette was recognized for her outstanding training efforts in the last 18 months with the inaugural Eugene Burchette Award—named in honor of her late fiance, who died in 2010.

A number of other awards were handed out during the banquet, which was held at Level Fire Hall.

The banquet was held in memoriam of former SHCO member Warren Chuck Todd.
