Suspect In Christmas Day Shooting Arrested, Held Without Bail
A 37-year-old man has been arrested and held without bail in the Christmas Day shooting of 32-year-old Marquis Gaskins in Edgewood.
EDGEWOOD, MD — Police have arrested the man they say shot 32-year-old Marquis Gaskins in the 1600 block of Candlewood Court on Christmas Day.
On Dec. 25 around 9:30 p.m., Prince George's County police officers were called to Edgewood where they found Gaskins with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Deputies started lifesaving measures until medics arrived at the scene and took over trauma care. Gaskins was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to an area hospital for emergency surgery. He was listed in stable condition, according to the police department.
Investigators interviewed witnesses, combed the area and determined that the shooting happened outside the 1700 block of Dearwood Court. They were able to identify the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. Around midnight Dec. 26, deputies found the vehicle near Conowingo Road and the Bel Air Bypass and stopped the driver. He was identified as 37-year-old Kenneth King Jr., and was wearing clothing consistent with an individual captured in video surveillance related to the shooting. During the stop, deputies found a handgun inside the vehicle that matched the description of a firearm seen in the video.
