Hatem Bridge Reopened at Westbound Route 40

Water main work restricted access to the bridge Friday morning.

The Hatem Bridge has reopened at westbound Route 40 as of 3:30 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

Westbound 40 was closed at the bridge Friday morning so that repairs could be made to a broken water main.

Work on the Hatem Memorial Bridge has closed the southernmost of the three bridges that carry traffic from Cecil County into Harford County.

Traffic is being detoured onto MD Route 222—which leads traffic to either U.S. Route 1 or Interstate 95.

The detour is set up due to a water main break on U.S. Route 40 in Havre de Grace.
