Residents from four units were displaced Saturday evening after a kitchen fire broke out at the Warren Place Apartments.

The small fire ignited at around 7 p.m. in an apartment located at 10535 York Rd., said Capt. Charles Tudor, batallion chief for the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Tudor said the fire, which was caused by a cooking accident, was quickly extinguished by firefighters. "It didn't take long to put it out at all, (a) couple of minutes."

According to the Whetstone Management Company's website, the fire was in the building formerly known as Cockeysville Elementary School, which was rennovated. The residents are ages 62 and older, according to the site.

Residents in neighboring apartments were also evacuated, but were able to return to their apartments later, Tudor said. However, the residents in the affected apartments could not return due to the smoke and water damage.
