Chelsea School in Hyattsville Provides Quality Instruction for Students with Disabilities
Chelsea School, a hidden gem in Hyattsville, provides a quality academic experience for students with learning disabilities.

Since 1976, Chelsea School has been serving students with language-based learning disabilities and attention deficits in a rigorous, college preparatory environment. Despite its rich history and profound impact on students in the greater Washington, DC area, Chelsea School remains largely unknown.
Located on the top floor of the Metro Shops building across from the Prince George's Plaza Metro station, Chelsea School has called Hyattsville home for the last 13 years. With its location tucked away between the Metro and the mall, you may have passed it several times without knowing that its there. Inside the school, you'll find a positive, welcoming, and nurturing learning community made up of students from across the metropolitan area and special educators who have been trained and licensed to serve their needs.
Chelsea School is a nonpublic school, meaning that it can accept both publicly-funded and private students. Public school students make up the majority of students, who are placed at the school after a lengthy process of receiving services from the public school district. Students are taught the same curriculum as their peers in their neighborhood schools, but with the individualized and specialized supports they need to be successful.
