Hawkins out in Prince George's, a new staff for a new speaker, Henson High on ice, in notes (marylandmatters.org) — Northwestern High School in Hyattsville will keep its current name for now, after Del. Anne Healey withdrew her bill to rename it for alumnus Jim Henson amid cost and priority concerns from school leaders. Healey, a longtime Hyattsville resident, said she was surprised by the pushback but acknowledged the community wants funding for basics like HVAC, safety, and staffing first. Victim Identified In Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision In Prince George's County (thebaynet.com) — Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened Friday morning in the unincorporated section of Hyattsville near Annapolis Road and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. A 49-year-old Laurel woman later died at the hospital, while others were injured but initially expected to survive. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the collision or has information to contact them.
