Laurel Volunteer Fire Department to Host Fire Prevention Week Open House

Chief Travis Pearcy, President Vic Whipple, members of the Fire Prevention Committee, and the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department membership would like to invite the public to their Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Sunday, October 14, 2012. This year’s Open House will have an emphasis onΒ Have 2 Ways Out!

The event will run from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Our station is located at 7411 Cherry Lane. We welcome residents of Laurel and surrounding communities to attend and bring their families and friends. We will have safety demonstrations, kids' activities, and view apparatus and equipment. There will also be tours of the fire station at the top of every hour and much more.

The Open House is a fun learning experience for kids. Children will learn fire safety protocols such as creating escape plans in case of a fire emergency, β€œStop, Drop, and Roll," placement and upkeep of smoke detectors, and emergency number awareness, just to name a few.

Parking is free in the station’s parking lot. For more information, please contact the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department at 301-776-3600 or visit our website atΒ www.laurelvfd.org.
