• PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision (blogspot.com) — Prince George’s County police are investigating a fatal crash near Annapolis Road and the BW Parkway that claimed the life of 49-year-old Laura Johnson of Laurel. Johnson initially appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries but later died at the hospital, and investigators are asking anyone with information about the two-vehicle collision to contact them.
   

• HERO Act helps families of fallen first responders receive support sooner in Montgomery County (dcnewsnow.com) — A Montgomery County firefighter who died battling a house fire in Laurel has inspired a new county law that speeds up benefits for families of fallen first responders. The HERO Act, just signed by the county executive, aims to prevent long delays like those faced by Lt. Christopher Higgins’ family, ensuring surviving spouses and children receive financial support much sooner.
