Laurel Cleans Up After Hurricane Sandy

It's been a long night for Laurel officials dealing with Hurricane Sandy's wrath, responding to nearly a dozen trees down and flooded roadways, all while dealing with wide spread outages around the city.

According to a city spokesman, who last updated the Laurel information line at 3 a.m., almost 5,000 residents in the city Laurel were without power during and after the storm.

Rain fall exceeded 8 inches in Laurel and wind speeds were around 50 mph.

The city also closed a number of roads due to flooding, including parts of Route 1 and 198.

The city's offices remain closed Tuesday, and city trash and recycling pickup was cancelled as well.
