1. Maryland football enjoyed a home win over Howard in a 62-0 game on Saturday night at Capital One Field in Maryland Stadium. The team scored 38 points in the first half alone. Maryland has won both of its opening games of the football season. (Testudo Times)
2. D.C.’s Humane Rescue Alliance is waiving adoption fees through September 19th to help get as many animals into new home as possible. It is currently housing over 150 animals including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, rabbits and a chicken. (WTOP)
3. A Maryland man who plunged a semen-filled syringe into a woman in an Anne Arundel County grocery store has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty in June and was caught on surveillance camera footage. (Fox 5 DC)
4. Maryland reported 1,150 new COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths, according to the state health department on Sunday. The positivity rate increased by .02% to 4.77%. More than 3.8 million Maryland adults are fully vaccinated. (CBS Baltimore)
5. Forecasters say summertime temperatures will reappear this week in Maryland. Temperatures in the upper 80s and near 90s will be possible and and there may be degraded air quality from wildfire smoke. (Baltimore Patch)
