• NASA's Parker Solar Probe Spies Solar Wind ‘U-Turn' (nasa.gov) — Laurel residents might be interested to know that NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is operated from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory right in Laurel where the spacecraft was also designed and built. New ultra-close images from its 2024 flyby show solar material falling back toward the Sun, offering scientists fresh insight into how solar eruptions form and evolve, which could eventually improve space-weather forecasting that affects satellites and power grids on Earth.
