• Flight Engineers Give NASA's Dragonfly Lift (nasa.gov) — Work on NASA’s Dragonfly mission is centered at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, where engineers are designing, machining, and testing the rotorcraft that will fly on Saturn’s moon Titan. Recent wind tunnel trials in Virginia validated the Laurel-built rotor system, and upcoming cryogenic tests will further prove the hardware before launch in 2028, spotlighting Laurel’s key role in this high-profile space mission.
   

• Global Partners to Highlight BOLT Hypersonic Experiment Success (jhuapl.edu) — Laurel residents might be interested to know that Johns Hopkins APL in Laurel led a major international hypersonic research experiment whose results will be showcased at a top aerospace conference this month. The BOLT‑1B flight, launched from Norway, gathered rare real‑flight data on high‑speed airflow, helping scientists refine models that could shape future aerospace and defense technologies involving work done at the Laurel campus.
