• Housing Voucher Program Opens Application Process (washingtoninformer.com) — Laurel residents now have a fresh chance to benefit from Prince George’s County’s newly reopened Housing Choice Voucher Program, which drew about 30,000 applications for 5,000 lottery spots. Local activist and Laurel resident Calondra Young says reopening the waitlist offers long-awaited hope for stability and dignity to low-income families across the county. 
• Tenants threatened with eviction just got more rights (thebaltimorebanner.com) — Montgomery County has just expanded protections for renters, giving tenants a full two weeks’ notice before an eviction can proceed, more than double the state minimum. Lawmakers also passed the HERO Act after a county firefighter died battling a fire in Laurel, aiming to speed pension access for families of first responders killed in the line of duty.
