Prince George's Police Take Back Prescription Drugs Saturday
Residents can get rid of their unwanted or unused prescription medicines at local police stations.
As a part of a national initiative, Prince George's County Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency will be collecting expired, unwanted prescription drugs Saturday at some local police stations.
This collection service is free and anonymous at the following location between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.:
- District I Station at 5000 Rhode Island Avenue in Hyattsville
- District III Station at 7600 Barlowe Road in Palmer Park
- District IV Station at 5135 Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill
National Drug Take-Back Intiative addresses a public safety and public issue, according to a county police press release.

"The DEA cites studies which show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from a home medicine cabinet," the police stated. "In addition, many citizens do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away – both potential safety and health hazards."
