Preakness 2016: 2 Horses Die in Early Races
Homeboykris died after leaving the winner's circle. Pramedya had to be euthanized after suffering a fracture.

BALTIMORE, MD - Two horses have died at the Preakness Stakes undercard races on Saturday.
Homeboykris, the winner of the first race, collapsed and died shortly after securing the victory in the opening race at Pimilco. The 9-year-old gelding collapsed after leaving the winner's circle.

Chris Campitelli, the son of Homeboykris' trainer Francis Campitelli, tweeted that the horse's death was a freak accident. He also wrote that the horse died of an apparent heart attack.

A second horse, 4-year-old Pramedya, suffered a left-front mid-cannon-bone fracture in Race 4 and had to be euthanized.
Pramedya has been euthanized and Daniel Centeno to hospital for X-rays, possible broken collarbone, all per Pimlico stewards.

Homeboykris, a Maryland bred horse, was a former Kentucky Derby runner. A Pimilco official told the Baltimore Sun Homeboykris will be sent to New Bolton Center Hospital for an autospy.

WBAL will carry live coverage starting at 1 p.m. from Pimlico. NBC Sports will broadcast live from Pimlico at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, with coverage continuing on NBC at 5 p.m.
