Ray Lewis Tells Kids to 'Go Home and Stay Home'
The former Ravens defender says: 'I've got a message for the rioters in Baltimore.'

On the heels of riots that prompted a state of emergency in Baltimore, Ravens legend Ray Lewis urged children to stay on the sidelines, in video he posted to Facebook Tuesday morning.
“Baltimore, get off the streets,” Lewis said. “Kids, go home and stay home.”

Baltimore Police reported that many of those pelting rocks and bricks at police Monday afternoon near Mondawmin Mall, where the riots began, were juveniles.

Rioting in the streets is “wrong, dead wrong,” Lewis said. “We must change this right now.”
Baltimore City officials reported Tuesday morning that there had been almost 200 arrests, 144 vehicle fires and 15 structure fires connected to the riots, which took place hours after the funeral for Freddie Gray, who died in police custody.

“We know there’s a deeper issue,” Lewis said. “Violence is not the answer. Freddie Gray—we don’t do nothing for him doing this.”
