Boy On Skateboard Hit By Vehicle, Driver Charged
A North Potomac man was charged after he allegedly struck a 10-year-old boy riding a skateboard outside an elementary school.

NORTH POTOMAC, MD — A North Potomac man was charged after he allegedly struck a 10-year-old boy on a skateboard outside an elementary school, according to reports.
Police said the accident occurred outside of Stone Mill Elementary school in the 14300 block of Stone Bridge View Dr. shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
The child was pinned by the car and was reportedly freed by bystanders before EMS arrived.

Bethesda Magazine reports Wen Rong Chen, 61, was charged with failing to stop for a pedestrian, failing to yield while turning left, failing to control speed to avoid a collision and failing to display his license to a police officer.

Chen was driving a 2004 Lexus sedan and lives about a mile from the elementary school, the magazine reports.
Officials have yet to release the boy's current status, but the injuries are serious.
Pete Piringer, the chief spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, told Bethesda Magazine the boy was wearing a helmet, which may have saved him from further injury.
