A 17-year-old Magruder High School student is in custody following a shooting at the school on Friday, January 21, 2022.

At approximately 12:53 p.m., high school security became aware of a situation in one of the school bathrooms. A male Magruder High School student had been shot and 911 was called at approximately 12:57 p.m.

The school went into a full lockdown at 1:05 p.m. and the building was secured by MCPD. 

 

Officers began a search of the building and located a suspect who was taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m.  A handgun was also located. 

 

The student victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition and is currently in surgery. At this time, the lockdown has been lifted and students are being dismissed from the school.

 

This is an active and ongoing investigation. An official release will be distributed once more information becomes available.
