Bear's Honeypot Eyes Move to Severna Park
The local cheese and specialty products store wants to move into a larger location and is seeking investors.
Bear's Honeypot, the seller of local cheese and specialty products, is planning a move into a larger space in Severna Park, and is looking to raise at least $5,000 from potential investors.Â
Store owner Barret Lang said he plans to sublet space on Ritchie Highway from Victoria's Fancy Foods. The new spot would be about three times the size of the current store on Odenton Road, and is equipped with a kitchen.Â
"We really wanted to expand into a full bake shop and full cut cheese shop," Lang said. "It's going to be a great opportunity for us."

Lang said he hopes to move into the new space by September, but is also seeking an injection of cash. He said those willing to invest in the store will receive a discount on the items they buy and will get their principal returned with interest later this year.Â
Lang said he hopes to raise between $5,000 and $8,000 in the next 30 days. He's hoping frequent customers will see the value in investing to obtain a discount, and said he may also launch a campaign on the funding website Kickstarter.

In addition to being larger, the new store in Severna Park will have a wider variety of local honey and olive oil, plus a bigger selection of hot sauces and local ice cream.Â
Bear's Honeypot opened on Odenton Road last July. Lang said he hoped the new location would offer better visibility and access.Â
Lang said he would continue to serve Odenton customers and would make home deliveries to those who signed up to receive produce through the store's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
