Big Changes Possible for Odenton Bus Services

Service on the K Route would be reduced, but the M Route bus could serve more of Odenton and make off-peak stops in Crofton.

The company that operates bus routes in Odenton is proposing major changes that could reduce service to some areas but expand it elsewhere.

Central Maryland Regional Transit is looking to alter the path of the K Route and M Route buses, which shuttle commuters from the MARC station to various stops in the area.

CMRT will hold a series of public meetings in November and December to get feedback on the proposals.

CMRT is proposing the following changes:

  • The K Route would no longer serve Odenton during the week, and instead would bypass the town as it heads north to Arundel Mills.
  • The K Route would no longer serve Telegraph Road due to low ridership.
  • The K Route would serve the Johns Hopkins Winmark Center in Odenton on the weekends.
  • The M Route, which shuttles people between the MARC Station and Piney Orchard, would run all day between 7:15 a.m. and 7:23 p.m.
  • The M Route would no longer travel on Strawberry Lake Way between Stream Valley Drive and Waugh Chapel Road.
  • The M Route would serve more of Odenton, making stops east along Annapolis Road and back to the MARC Station.
  • The first and last trip of the M Route during peak hours would extend to Crofton.
  • During off-peak times (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.) the M Route would travel to the Waugh Chapel Town Centre and to Crofton.
There will be five public meetings to gather feedback on the changes. Here's the schedule of meetings: (All are scheduled for 6 p.m.)
  • Nov. 19 - Arundel Mills Mall, Harman's Community Room.
  • Nov. 21 - Nantucket Elementary School
  • Dec. 4 - West County Library
  • Dec. 11 - North Laurel Community Center
  • Dec. 18 - Laurel Municipal Center
