Authorities said, "The handgun was discharged into the floor during the struggle." The press release didn't clarify if the gunshot was intentional or accidental.
The officer said they took the suspect into custody without further incident.
Police said they seized a Glock Model 23, .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Court records show that Gordon was charged with six misdemeanors, including second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and three gun offenses.
Gordon also faces one felony charge of first-degree assault, the case file says.
The records say Judge Thomas J. Pryal held Gordon without bond on Monday.
Detectives are still investigating.
