Police said the 11-year-old boy was not at a crosswalk when he tried to cross the street.

An 11-year-old boy was hurt Monday afternoon after being struck by a car when trying to cross the street near Odenton Elementary School.Â
Anne Arundel County police said the boy, who was attending a summer school program, was dropped off by bus on Odenton Road at about 12:30 p.m. He began walking along the sidewalk, then tried to cross the street and was struck by a Mitsubishi Lancer near the intersection of Odenton Road and Monterey Avenue. Police said the boy did not use a crosswalk.Â
The boy was transported to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center with minor injuries, and the principal at Odenton Elementary stayed with him until his parents arrived.Â
